Basketball Recap: Patrick County Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Patrick County can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Liberty Minutemen and fell 73-37. The Cougars' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Patrick County still got an impressive performance from Lilly G Hazelwood, who posted eight points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracen Conner, who scored seven points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberty to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shania Brown, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance also gave Brown a new career-high in blocks (five). Another player making a difference was Moriah Tate, who went 8-for-16 en route to 18 points and four steals.

Patrick County's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Liberty, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4.

Patrick County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberty, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gretna at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gretna will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Liberty surely won't give up without a fight.
