Softball Recap: Highland Prep Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Highland Prep can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Monday. Everything went their way against the Dysart Demons as the Highland Prep Honey Badgers made off with an 11-4 victory. The Honey Badgers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 13, 2024.

Sydney Mikkelson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Mikkelson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Rodda, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Aneyka Angulo, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Highland Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dysart only posted an OBP of .250.

The win got Highland Prep back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Highland Prep will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Odyssey Institute at 3:45 p.m. Highland Prep is facing Odyssey Institute at the right time seeing as Odyssey Institute is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Dysart, they will head out on the road to take on Thunderbird at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
