Baseball Recap: Credo Takes a Loss

If Credo was feeling good fresh off their 23-2 takedown of Roseland Collegiate Prep on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gryphon fell just short of the Tomales Braves by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. The Gryphon were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Braves earlier this season, when they won 22-3.

Thadeus Cole was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Credo is 5-2 when Cole posts two or more runs, but 2-8-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Henry Humphreys was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Tommy Simmons was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Credo has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10-1 record this season. As for Tomales, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7.

Looking ahead, Credo will head out to take on Sonoma Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Gryphon's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Coyotes have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season. As for Tomales, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Roseland Collegiate Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves are facing the Grizzlies at the right time seeing as the Grizzlies are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
