Baseball Game Preview: Plain Dealing Lions vs. Doyline Panthers

The Plain Dealing Lions will head out to face off against the Doyline Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Plain Dealing has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Plain Dealing is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Thursday. They lost 19-9 to Lakeview.

Bo Bailey made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Jerry Harris was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Doyline was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They came up short against North Caddo, falling 15-0. The Panthers have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Plain Dealing's loss dropped their record down to 3-7-1. As for Doyline, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Plain Dealing has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Doyline struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Plain Dealing suffered a grim 19-3 defeat to Doyline when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
