Basketball Recap: Grapeland Skates Past Centerville with Ease

Grapeland won the last time they faced Centerville and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Grapeland Sandies claimed a resounding 60-26 victory over the Centerville Tigers. The Sandies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Grapeland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mikayla Woods led the charge by putting up eight points along with five boards and four steals. Woods is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaylie Rice, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.

Grapeland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Grapeland's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Centerville, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-20.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Leon the next time they take the court. Grapeland will host Leon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Centerville will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th.
