Volleyball Preview: Rochester Zebras vs. Winamac Warriors

Rochester is a perfect 10-0 against Winamac since September of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Zebras will square off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Rochester had just enough and edged out Wabash 3-2.

Rochester took Wabash into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-16, 19-25, 22-25, 15-10.

Rochester can attribute much of their success to Logyn Honkomp, who had 15 digs, and Rilyn Strasser, who had ten digs. That's the most digs Strasser has posted over her last eight contests. KayLea Mccarty also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Winamac not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 1, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They blew past Argos 3-0. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Winamac never let Argos on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-23, 25-16.

Winamac's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 5-17. As for Rochester, their record is now 8-14.

Rochester beat Winamac 3-1 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Zebras since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
