Basketball Recap: Murphy Skates Past Summit Charter with Ease

Murphy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They breezed by the Summit Charter Bears to the tune of 52-17. The match marked the Bulldogs' most dominant victory of the season.

Murphy found their leader in sophomore Ilie Smith, who posted nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Smith. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Laney, who went 5 of 12 en route to 10 points.

Murphy was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Murphy's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Summit Charter, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Murphy has already played their next contest (against Gilmer), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Summit Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-49 defeat against Andrews on the 14th.
