Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Lynx vs. Newport - Bellevue Knights

The Lincoln Lynx will square off against the Newport - Bellevue Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Newport - Bellevue took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lincoln, who comes in off a win.

Lincoln took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-44 victory over Eastside Catholic.

Meanwhile, Newport - Bellevue was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 67-46 to Eastlake. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Wolves are ranked 80th).

Lincoln will have to contain Portia Polo as she made an impact in Newport - Bellevue's last game. She went 9 for 16 on her way to 23 points and three steals. That was a full 50% of Newport - Bellevue's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elie De Leon, who scored four points along with eight boards and five blocks.

Lincoln's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-15. As for Newport - Bellevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.
