The South Stokes Sauras will face off against the East Wilkes Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Stokes is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Last Friday, South Stokes didn't have quite enough to beat Mount Airy and fell 4-3. The Sauras have struggled against the Granite Bears recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

South Stokes saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameryn Phipps, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, East Wilkes' good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They came up short against Ashe County, falling 21-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Cardinals were not able to get on the board.

East Wilkes' loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for South Stokes, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. South Stokes has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like East Wilkes struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

South Stokes was able to grind out a solid victory over East Wilkes when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 8-4. Will South Stokes repeat their success, or does East Wilkes has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
