Recap: Animas Panthers vs. Cobre Indians
There's no place like home for the Animas Panthers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past Cobre with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 49-35. That's another feather in the cap for Animas, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Animas can attribute much of their success to Laikyn Davenport, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Davenport also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Rainer, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Animas' win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Cobre, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Animas will head out on the road to face off against Hondo Valley at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cobre will be home for the holidays to greet Lordsburg at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
