Basketball Recap: Salisbury Falls Despite Big Games from Allie Collins and Kayleigh Demarco

Salisbury lost against The Gunston School back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Salisbury Dragons took a 55-37 bruising from The Gunston School Herons. The Dragons were down 45-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Salisbury's loss came despite strong showings from Kayleigh DeMarco and Allie Collins. DeMarco posted 11 points, while Collins put up 13 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave DeMarco a new career-high in points.

Layla Kent continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for The Gunston School, putting up 26 points along with six boards and six steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Kent has scored at least a third of The Gunston School's points. Another player making a difference was Lilly McDonald, who earned 11 points and six rebounds.

Salisbury's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for The Gunston School, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-3.

Salisbury wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 47-21 defeat against Polytech on the 17th. The Gunston School has also already played their next contest (against Worcester Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
