Recap: Chesterfield Golden Rams vs. Central Eagles
The Chesterfield Golden Rams lost against the Central Eagles back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Chesterfield took a serious blow against Central, falling 55-18.
Chesterfield's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Short, who threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Jaquavis Clark was in the mix as well, providing Chesterfield with two touchdowns.
Chesterfield's defeat was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.6 points per game. As for Central, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chesterfield will take on Cheraw at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cheraw is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Central, they will head out on the road to face off against North Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (North Central is ranked 175th, while Central is ranked 177th).
