Softball Game Preview: Mira Mesa Marauders vs. Scripps Ranch Falcons

Mira Mesa is 2-8 against Scripps Ranch since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Marauders will welcome the Falcons at 4:00 p.m.

Mira Mesa is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against University City on Tuesday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Centurions.

Bailey McBride made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Scripps Ranch had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Warhawks get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory.

Kenzie Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Katelyn Toth was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Sienna Cole was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Scripps Ranch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Scripps Ranch's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Mira Mesa, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Mira Mesa took their victory against Scripps Ranch when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Marauders repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
