Two dominant backs in Joe Reiter and Jayvon Funderburk are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Barker/Royalton-Hartland Bulls will venture away from home to take on the Western New York Maritime Charter/Tapestry Seahawks at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Barker/Royalton-Hartland will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Barker/Royalton-Hartland will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Alden, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Bulls strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 40-21.
Among those leading the charge was Tysen McCaa, who rushed for 54 yards on only six carries, and also threw for 64 yards and one TD while completing 80% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Barker/Royalton-Hartland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 282 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 203 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Western New York Maritime Charter/Tapestry played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Honeoye Falls-Lima and fell 49-14. The Seahawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.
Although Western New York Maritime Charter/Tapestry took the loss, they still got scores from Jaylin Coleman and Davion Blackwell.
This is the second loss in a row for Western New York Maritime Charter/Tapestry and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Barker/Royalton-Hartland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. Barker/Royalton-Hartland has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 271.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Western New York Maritime Charter/Tapestry struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 389.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Barker/Royalton-Hartland didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Western New York Maritime Charter/Tapestry in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 12-8 win.
