The North Gem Cowboys will head out on the road to square off against Watersprings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. North Gem has given up an average of 27.1 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times North Gem and Challis had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The matchup between the Cowboys and the Vikings didn't end well, with the Cowboys falling 36-20. Cowboys fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Vikings since Friday.

North Gem's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Craig Yost, who rushed for 113 yards and three TDs, and William Wakely, who rushed for 117 yards. Yost has become a key player for the Cowboys: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Watersprings, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They claimed a resounding 66-20 victory over Sho-Ban. Considering Watersprings' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
North Gem better keep an eye on Korban Nelson. He was instrumental in Watersprings' win, rushing for 153 yards and four scores on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Nelson a new career-high. Ryan Demkowicz was in the mix as well, providing Watersprings with two TDs.
Watersprings didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Wyatt Iraola.
North Gem's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Watersprings, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. North Gem has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 292.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Watersprings struggles in that department as they've been averaging 202.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for North Gem against Watersprings in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 64-22 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Nelson, who threw for 183 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 31 yards and one score. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Cowboys still be able to contain Nelson? There's only one way to find out.
