Baseball Game Preview: Clinton Arrows vs. Ridgeland Titans

The Clinton Arrows are taking a road trip to take on the Ridgeland Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clinton will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Clinton's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Pearl with a sharp 14-0 win. The Arrows have beaten the Pirates the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pirates has come to flipping the script.

Brody Zumbro led a balanced Arrows bullpen and tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Zumbro a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Dodson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chad Bates, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Clinton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ridgeland suffered their closest defeat since April 5, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Clinton by a score of 4-2. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Arrows recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Clinton's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Ridgeland, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Clinton skirted past Ridgeland 4-2 in their previous matchup on Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clinton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
