Lausanne Collegiate got a 35 - 14 win over Evangelical Christian last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Eric Gray. Gray rushed for 249 yards and two touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Gray as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The clash of the power ranking titans last week was between Mount Juliet (11th in the power rankings) and Blackman (16th). Mount Juliet took its game against Blackman by a confident 35 - 14 score. The power rankings were completely indifferent to the match, so neither team moved up or down this week.
Movin on Up
The Hillsboro offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It blew past Shelbyville Central 48 - 20. 48 is shaping up to be Hillsboro's lucky number as the team posted the same point total in its win over Lincoln County the game before. Hillsboro's success was rewarded with a one-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between McCallie (4th in the power rankings) and Memphis University (1st). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Both the Memphis University and McCallie defenses have allowed few points this year (averaging 8.07 ppg and 12 ppg, respectively), so the teams might find scoring more difficult than usual this week.
