Basketball Game Preview: Churubusco Eagles vs. Lakeland Lakers

The Churubusco Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Lakeland Lakers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lakeland took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Churubusco, who comes in off a win.

Churubusco is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Argos 73-49 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Eagles have posted since February 9, 2024.

Meanwhile, Lakeland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-37 heartbreaker at the hands of Wawasee. The matchup marked the Lakers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Churubusco, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-11.

Churubusco took a serious blow against Lakeland in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 70-40. Can Churubusco avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
