Basketball Recap: Lexi Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Central over Washington Township

South Central was the 40-35 winner over Washington Township when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between the South Central Satellites and the Washington Township Senators didn't end well, with the South Central Satellites falling 47-31. The Satellites have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

South Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lexi Johnson, who posted eight points and nine rebounds. Samantha Marks was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Washington Township's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clair Klinger led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Klinger is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Campbell, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

South Central's record now sits at 4-8. As for Washington Township, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Central will head out to challenge Wheeler at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Washington Township, they will venture away from home to square off against Hebron at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington Township is facing Hebron at the right time seeing as Hebron is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
