Basketball Recap: AuSable Valley Comes Up Short

AuSable Valley extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They received a blow as they fell 55-38 to the Peru Nighthawks. The Patriots were down 48-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why AuSable Valley lost, don't look at Aiden Blaise. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds. Marco Amato was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

As for Peru, their win bumped their record up to 1-0. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with AuSable Valley: they've now won three in a row.

Deacon Whitmarsh had a dynamite game, dropping a double-double with 26 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (seven). Another player making a difference was Trenten Taylor, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

AuSable Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-44 win against Northeastern Clinton on the 6th. As for Peru, they have also already played their next contest, a 46-30 victory against Moriah on the 6th.
