Basketball Preview: Leakey Eagles vs. D'Hanis Cowboys
The Leakey Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the D'Hanis Cowboys at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Friday, Leakey was beaten by the Angoras 85-24. While losing is never fun, Leakey can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1192nd, while the Angoras are ranked 310th).
Meanwhile, D'Hanis entered their tilt with the Crushers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. D'Hanis came out on top against the Crushers by a score of 41-31 on Saturday. D'Hanis pushed the score to 33-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Crushers cut but never quite recovered from.
Leakey's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-10. As for D'Hanis, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9.
Leakey suffered a grim 48-26 defeat to the Cowboys in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of D'Hanis' Alysha Garcia, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Now that Leakey knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
