            Baseball Recap: Caliche Buffaloes vs. Sedgwick County Cougars        
        
		
        
        
            Caliche came into their game  on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost  12-6 to the Sedgwick County Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buffaloes of the  15-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in March of 2024.
 Mason Hernandez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out seven batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   five  hits. That's the fewest  hits  he has allowed since April 5th. He was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with one  stolen base and one  run.

 In other batting news,  Zander Yost made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 2-for-4 with two  runs and one  stolen base. He has become a key player for Caliche: the team is 6-1 when he posts  at  least  two  runs, but 1-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was  Grady Roth, who  went 2-for-3 with one  run and one  double.
Caliche has  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record  this season. As for Sedgwick County, their victory  ended  a  five-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 7-10.
 Coming up, Caliche will square off against Otis at 12:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for Sedgwick County, they will head out to  challenge Highland  at 2:00  p.m.  on Friday.
