Baseball Recap: Brandon's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

Brandon and Madison Central squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Brandon had to settle for second. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bulldogs, who until this contest were averaging 3.47 runs allowed.

Brandon got a good showing from Cooper Hooks, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Hooks has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jay McQueen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. Tre McQueen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
