Baseball Recap: Mount Carmel's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Mount Carmel's win against Central Columbia wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The RED TORNADOES narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bluejays 4-2. That's two games straight that the RED TORNADOES have won by exactly two runs.

Noah Shimko looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Mount Carmel is undefeated when Shimko allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jason Klokis, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Owen Ramirez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The win (which was Mount Carmel's third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Central Columbia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Mount Carmel wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 20-12 win against Midd-West on the 14th. As for Central Columbia, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-3 loss against Lewisburg on the 14th.
