Graham hasn't had much luck against Seaforth recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Red Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Graham has given up an average of 16.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Graham came up short against Jordan-Matthews on Friday, falling 19-4.
Graham saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Dove, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Seaforth got the win against North Moore on Friday by a conclusive 10-3. Considering the Hawks have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Emma Grace Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Annika Johansson and Alyssa Harris did most of the damage at the plate: Johansson went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Harris got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that Harris has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Blair Hill, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Seaforth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Moore only posted an OBP of .148.
Seaforth is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Graham, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Graham has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Seaforth struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Graham might still be hurting after the 23-8 loss they got from Seaforth when the teams last played back in February. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
