Softball Recap: Dequincy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lakeview

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask DeQuincy). They were the clear victors by a 20-2 margin over the Lakeview Gators on Thursday. Considering the Tigers have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddie Vinatieri made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Vinatieri was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, DeQuincy got a massive performance out of Onnie Remedies, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Those five stolen bases gave Remedies a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Cooley, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

DeQuincy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .852. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

DeQuincy's victory bumped their record up to 19-14. As for Lakeview, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-19.

DeQuincy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Gators: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
