Basketball Recap: Monroe Area Comes Up Short

Monroe Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 64-52 to the Jefferson Dragons. While losing is never fun, the Purple Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 341st, while the Dragons are ranked 148th).

Monroe Area's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Jefferson, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Monroe Area is set to face off against their familiar foe West Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Jefferson will take on rival East Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
