Preview: South Garner Titans vs. Willow Spring Storm
After two games on the road, South Garner is heading back home. They will take on The Willow Spring Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, South Garner took a serious blow against Clayton, falling 49-6. While losing is never fun, South Garner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Clayton is ranked 21st).
Meanwhile, Willow Spring's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Cleveland on the road and fell 52-7.
Willow Spring's defeat came about despite a quality game from Cameron Howard, who picked up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown. Howard's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards.
South Garner now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Willow Spring, their loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-4.
Everything came up roses for South Garner against Willow Spring in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 65-6 win. Will South Garner repeat their success, or does Willow Spring have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
