Softball Recap: Moreno Valley Wins Going Away Against Cathedral City

Moreno Valley's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Cathedral City Lions as the Moreno Valley Vikings made off with a 14-3 victory. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Mia Licon was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Amera Collins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Moreno Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cathedral City only posted an OBP of .320.

Moreno Valley's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Cathedral City, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, Moreno Valley will take on Vista del Lago at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Vista del Lago has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.13 runs per game on average), something Moreno Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cathedral City, they will challenge Desert Mirage at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
