Baseball Game Preview: Etiwanda Eagles vs. Upland Highlanders/Scots

For the second straight game, Etiwanda will face off against Upland. The Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Highlanders/Scots at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Etiwanda's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Upland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Etiwanda is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over Upland on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Jack Holguin looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has become a key player for Etiwanda: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-9-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Angel Mejia was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Etiwanda's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-11-1 when he doesn't). Jaeden Toki was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.

Etiwanda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Etiwanda has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Upland, their loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-18.
