Recap: Mountain View Thunder vs. Battle Ground Tigers

Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 17 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact the Mountain View Thunder proved on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 53-39 victory over Battle Ground. Given Mountain View's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Battle Ground is ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mountain View found their leader in underclassman Mylee Thompson, who scored 16 points. Thompson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadlyn Senderson, who scored ten points along with four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Battle Ground lost, one person who can't be blamed is Skylar Fridriksson. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Fridriksson's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. Haily Navarro was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Even though they lost, Battle Ground were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Mountain View's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Battle Ground, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Mountain View will be playing in front of their home fans against Prairie at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Battle Ground won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kelso at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
