Basketball Recap: Bayside Comes Up Short

Bayside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were dealt a 64-14 loss at the hands of the Ocean Lakes Dolphins. While losing is never fun, the Marlins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th in Virginia, while the Dolphins are ranked 114th in Virginia).

Ocean Lakes got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Samara Williams out in front who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Williams is becoming a predictor of Ocean Lakes' success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 12-6 (and 1-2 when she doesn't). Maddi Fisher was another key player, putting up 12 points and six steals.

Bayside's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Ocean Lakes, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Bayside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ocean Lakes, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-36 loss against Deep Creek on the 25th.
