Baseball Game Preview: North Pontotoc Vikings vs. Booneville Blue Devils

North Pontotoc is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Booneville is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Vikings will welcome the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

North Pontotoc had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Bruce on Monday. The Vikings never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. Considering the Vikings have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Booneville got the win against Pine Grove on Monday by a conclusive 12-3. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Knox Houston was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Corbin White was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

North Pontotoc has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Booneville, their victory bumped their record up to 13-14.

North Pontotoc came out on top in a nail-biter against Booneville in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
