Softball Recap: Edison Wins Going Away Against Dryden

Edison got themselves on the board against Dryden on Wednesday, but Dryden never followed suit. They blew past the Lions 16-0. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won nine matchups by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Kailey Ripley made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Maycie Bennett was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Emily Aiello was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

The victory made it two in a row for Edison and bumps their season record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Dryden, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Edison will take on Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Storm have now posted at least ten runs in their last seven contests. As for Dryden, they will challenge Lansing at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
