Basketball Game Preview: Hannibal Warriors vs. Weedsport Wolverines

The Hannibal Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Weedsport Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hannibal is looking for their season's first victory.

Hannibal is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Solvay on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Hannibal took a blow against Solvay, falling 67-39. The Warriors were down 46-25 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Weedsport came up short against Waterville on Friday and fell 63-52. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Indians are ranked 126th).

Hannibal's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Weedsport, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Hannibal against Weedsport in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-27 win. Does Hannibal have another victory up their sleeve, or will Weedsport turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
