Basketball Recap: Escalante Piles Up the Points Against Telos

With a playoff win on the line, Escalante rose to the challenge on Saturday. They blew past Telos 80-39. The Moquis have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 25 points or more this season.

Escalante's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rayce Jenkins led the charge by dropping a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds. Jenkins also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Escalante is 3-1 when he posts at least five steals, but 7-12 otherwise. Mac Porter was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 12 steals.

Escalante smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Escalante's win bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Telos, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Coming up, Escalante will take on Milford at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Milford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Escalante likes a good challenge. Telos does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
