Basketball Recap: Kalama Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Kalama entered their match against Castle Rock on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Kalama Chinooks took a 58-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Castle Rock Rockets. The Chinooks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rockets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Kalama's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin McBride, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Abel Koski, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 boards.

Kalama's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5. As for Castle Rock, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Kalama will welcome Stevenson at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Kalama is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season. As for Castle Rock, they will head out to face off against La Center at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Castle Rock's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
