Recap: Chenango Valley Warriors vs. Whitney Point Eagles

After flying high against the Harpursville Hornets on Wednesday, the Chenango Valley Warriors came back down to earth. Chenango Valley was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 47-46 to Whitney Point. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Chenango Valley has scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Chenango Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Benowski. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points. Benowski scored a full 47.8% of Chenango Valley's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nate Marinaro, who scored nine points.

Chenango Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Whitney Point, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chenango Valley will take on Windsor Central at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Windsor Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Whitney Point will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Charles O. Dickerson at 7:15 p.m. on January 12, 2024.
