Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Coleman

Coleman won against Gillett on Thursday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Cougars didn't even let the Gibraltar Vikings on the board, marking the Cougars' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The win was just business as usual for the Cougars, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

Makenzie Nowak made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Coleman let Macy Nowak and Alyssa Kurth run wild. Nowak went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Kurth went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave Nowak a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Wyss, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Coleman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Coleman's record now sits at 3-0. As for Gibraltar, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coleman is headed away from home for the first time to take on Oconto at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gibraltar, they will head out to challenge Hilbert at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
