Football Recap: Nick Baxley Leads Jay's Defense on Friday + How To Watch

Jay hadn't done well against Northview recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Royals came out on top against the Chiefs by a score of 28-20. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royals.

Jay's defense made their presence known, laying out Caleb Levins four times. Nick Baxley was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself. Baxley is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. Bryson Morris got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Northview, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Jay and Northview could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Royals will take on South Choctaw Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (421 vs. 196). Meanwhile, Northview (ranked 463rd) will meet Blountstown (ranked 114th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
