Softball Recap: Heritage Hills Finds Home Field Redemption Against Evansville Harrison

Heritage Hills's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Tecumseh on Friday. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Evansville Harrison Warriors. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 13-2 win the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2019.

Mia Kiegel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hadley Leibering was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 3-for-3. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Emma Fischer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Heritage Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Heritage Hills is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Evansville Harrison, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

Heritage Hills and Evansville Harrison are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Patriots will challenge Mt. Vernon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Heritage Hills is facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Evansville Harrison, they will take on Evansville North at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
