Basketball Recap: Forest Hill Comes Up Short

Forest Hill extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 3-8. They had to suffer through an 80-44 loss at the hands of the Stoneman Douglas Eagles. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-19.

As for Stoneman Douglas, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 4-5 record. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Stoneman Douglas to victory were Derek Scheidt and Jacob Rayvis. Scheidt shot 53% from the field to rack up 17 points and seven assists, while Rayvis posted 11 points and five steals. That's the most steals Rayvis has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caleb VanBronkhorst, who went 5-for-12 en route to 12 points.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Forest Hill and Greenacres Christian will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026. Stoneman Douglas and Monarch will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
