Two dominant backs in Cyle Kisner and Britton Walston are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Wellington Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Resurrection Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Wellington sitting on seven straight wins and Resurrection Christian on four.
Wellington is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Eaton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Eagles blew the Reds out of the water with a 41-6 final score. Considering the Eagles have won six matchups by more than 34 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Wellington can attribute much of their success to Brayton Meglen, who rushed for 135 yards and one TD on only nine carries, and Tanner Gray, who rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown. An impressive showing, but Gray really ramped things up playing D: he picked up 1.5 sacks and made five total tackles (2.0 for loss).
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wellington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 423 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Wellington's defense and their 4.5 sacks. Anijah Garner was especially locked on to Eaton's QB and sacked him twice. Garner also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine.
Meanwhile, Resurrection Christian took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 38-6 victory over Berthoud. The Cougars are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fourth game they've won by 20+ points this season.
Wellington better focus on containing Jaxson Pszanka and Jackson Lucas as the pair were huge in Resurrection Christian's win. Pszanka picked up 132 receiving yards and one score, while Lucas threw for 255 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt. Those 255 passing yards gave Lucas a new career-high.
Wellington's record now sits at 7-0. As for Resurrection Christian, their record is now 5-2.
Everything went Wellington's way against Resurrection Christian in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Wellington made off with a 41-20 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Walston, who rushed for 76 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Eagles still be able to contain Walston? There's only one way to find out.
