Basketball Game Preview: Pawnee Indians vs. Calvary Saints

Pawnee hasn't had much luck against Calvary recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pawnee Indians are taking a road trip to take on the Calvary Saints at 7:30 p.m. Pawnee will be strutting in after a victory while Calvary will be coming in after a loss.

Pawnee took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against North Greene by a score of 61-54. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

Calvary has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They came up short against Warrensburg-Latham on Tuesday, falling 69-45. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Cardinals are ranked 97th).

Pawnee will have to contain Luke Blackford as he made an impact in Calvary's last game. He posted 25 points and seven rebounds. Blackford's evening made it 21 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Antione Hunter was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven boards.

Calvary's defeat dropped their record down to 20-10. As for Pawnee, their victory bumped their record up to 8-19.

Pawnee came up short against Calvary in their previous meeting back in January, falling 64-58. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Blackford, who went 8-for-15 en route to 25 points and seven rebounds.
