The Immaculate Mustangs will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Brookfield Bobcats at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
Immaculate fell victim to Bunnell and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since May 7, 2025.
Immaculate saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mackenzie Cooper, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Brookfield put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Harding get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory. Give the Bobcats' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Sydney Miller and Lila Conrad made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Miller struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Conrad struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Miller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Miller fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4, while Conrad went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. With that strong performance, Conrad is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game.
In other batting news, Brookfield let Samantha Aurrichio and Addasyn Coutts run wild. Aurrichio went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Coutts went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Coutts a new career-high. Emma Ferguson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Brookfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .686. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Brookfield's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Immaculate, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Immaculate's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Brookfield, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Immaculate continue to outrun the ball?
Immaculate suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Brookfield when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
