The Inderkum Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Ponderosa Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Inderkum will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
While Inderkum's victory against Christian Brothers wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Falcons 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since February 18th.
Anyssa Luttig and Brielle Collins did most of the damage at the plate: Luttig went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Collins scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Luttig has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexandra Jacques, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Inderkum hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Ponderosa never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against Bella Vista as they made off with a 6-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Haley Warney's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kate McCartney was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Haley Arroyo was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Inderkum's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ponderosa, their record is now 6-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Inderkum hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Ponderosa struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Inderkum came out on top in a nail-biter against Ponderosa when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
