Softball Recap: Lewis Mills Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Lewis Mills came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Bristol Central Rams. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rams, too.

Eliza Criss was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Calleigh Lok, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.

Lewis Mills pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bristol Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Coming up, Lewis Mills will look to defend their home field on Friday against Canton at 3:45 p.m. As for Bristol Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Farmington at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
