Softball Game Preview: St. Thomas Aquinas Trojans vs. Robbinsville Ravens

The St. Thomas Aquinas Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Robbinsville Ravens at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Thomas Aquinas' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Robbinsville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

St. Thomas Aquinas is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Jersey's top teams: Hunterdon Central, who was ranked fourth at the time (St. Thomas Aquinas was ranked 22nd). The Trojans came up short against the Red Devils on Friday, falling 9-2. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Trojans couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Robbinsville owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Allentown. The Ravens haven't had any issues with the Redbirds recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Lexi Lopez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Jules Amoroso was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Jordan Grodsky was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Robbinsville's record is now 14-4. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-2.

St. Thomas Aquinas came up short against Robbinsville when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 3-0. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
