Softball Recap: Wilmington Makes It 13 in a Row at Home

Wilmington waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 15 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lexi Strohm looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Molly Southall, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Keeley Walsh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Wilmington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.

Wilmington pushed their record up to 22-6 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Joliet Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-12.

Wilmington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Joliet Catholic, they are taking a road trip to challenge Carmel at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Corsairs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Hilltoppers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
