Baseball Recap: Kiefer Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Kiefer had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Sequoyah Indians. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-1 last Monday.

Trent Cantrell made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Phillip Crabtree was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Easton, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Kiefer's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Sequoyah, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Coming up, Kiefer will look to defend their home field on Monday against Okmulgee at 4:30 p.m. As for Sequoyah, they will head out to square off against Westville at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
